Kolobkov Pro

Does anyone have any more information on the Kolobkov Pro epee blade? I've read the review, as well as the thread, but can't find any more information. Has anyone else tested it?

I'm thinking of buying it as present. The individual has previously used Uhlmann FIE blades and a Prieur FIE blade. As far as I know he does not flick. He is rated in epee and has several years of experience. He's fairly light on the blades, snaps less than one a year.
I don't fence as much as him and in a different weapon, so I am kind of lost. If Kolobkov Pro is a bad choice, what would be a good choice?

Well, though I haven't fenced with one and put it through the paces I have held one and compared it to the regular Leon Paul Rain Gutter. It has a weighted forte so binds are much easier. It isn't a flexable blade by any means but it will bend if you hit someone without snapping in two. When I say flexable I mean it would not be the new blade for flik hits which is what i see people using the Leon Pauls for most often.

Now, this is just an outside point of view so this is all based off of first impressions. If you want questions answered directly talk to the people that wrote reviews. They can give you the best information

Five people's opinions are better than one, even though the one was very thorough.

Thanks for the info.

By all accounts, it's similar to a BF in feel, but a little lighter. If you friend likes the feel of BFs and the lightness of Prieur, it's probably a good match. But I'm guessing you already figured that out. We can't tell you what kind of blade your friend likes, though.

Other than that, it's a hot item. It's new, it's pretty, and it's endorsed by Kolobkov. I bet it would make a great gift. I don't even fence epee, and I wouldn't turn one down.

These are a bit new to give full detailed reviews on. As people get more bouts with these blades we'll have more reviews online.

BTW - I'm having some issues getting support on the product reviews program and there's no easy import, so I'll have to move the product reviews over to a more compatible (and stable) system by hand over the next few weeks.

My take on the Kolobkov Pro Blade

Hi everyone,

My name's John and 'm from Singapore. I have been using the blade for close to a month right now and observed some interesting facts about the blade. (By the way, I'm the first in Singapore to use the blade).

1. The blade is definitely well balanced for use by both offensive and defensive styles of fencing.

2. Good and solid binds achievable.

3. Well controlled flicks to arms.

4. Corrosion free and strong blade which does not have small nicks after a month of intensive blade clashes.

5. Blade finish is refined and free from any visible defects (I checked through the blade after a month's use under a stereo-microscope).

6. Due to its V-blade design, it had survived many encounters of hard hits and has not developed any kinks. I can comment on this because many of my BF FIE blades could not even survive through the ordeals that the Kolobkov Pro has gone through.)

Overall, I am very pleased with the blade which gives good durability and feel.
