Array Long Island a hotbed of fencing? Got sucked into reading some flame wars on autoadmit.com (heard about it on PBS I swear). Anyway one thing led to another which included some derogatory comments on LI valedictorians with associated photos. http://www.newsday.com/news/local/lo...allery?index=1
Being somewhat down, having just broken another blade on my coach and suffering the letdowns after fencing the last Bay Cup veterans epee yesterday and getting knocked out early on by Master Phil Gerring (I've got my excuses lined up) and having a spare minute, I scanned the valedictorians and their accomplishments. Out of 144 there were at least 4 who cited fencing including one young lady who touted being varsity team captain. Couldn't find her on the USFA lists though. As fencing and valedictorians are both fairly exclusive it was interesting to see even four fencers among them. -

Array The local high school has to avoid scheduling fencing meets when the orchestra is having a concert. Whoopee! My avatar is back. -

Array He#y! No one hates your kids. We think Long Island is fantastic!!!
I was really raised their I love the beaches.Being raised on LI is terrific there's so much to do and Manhattan's only a few feet away, we were spoiled living there. By the time I was in 8th grade I already was in the Metropolitan, the Museum of Natural History took the subway, went on a train to DC and PA to see the Liberty Bell, went to Worlds Fair, We saw everything, lighthouses, whales, ferries.
[oh, you get my dander up] We have more songs written about New York:
New YOrk, New York!
A hellava town, the bronx is up
and the Batteries down,
New YOrk, New York!!!!
