Double points, and down to as far as the L64 (depending on cut-off %) and much stronger limited entries. Also, they contain team events have a higher registration fee (60 euros) and the referees are hired instead of brough by each country.

    Las Vegas World Cup Coverage

I accidentally deleted the e-mail the USFA sent about the--online, I assume--coverage of the Las Vegas World Cup. Could someone reply and post the link on here? Thanks a bunch!

When you say hired I understand that to mean they are selected by the FIE and their expenses paid by the FIE. Only one per country except for the host country.

Interesting. I couldn't resist visiting their site to see what they have to say about fencing. I'm not encouraged.

We'll have some more audio interviews of the fencers in Vegas.

Let me know today or tomorrow (Friday) if there are any specific fencers or questions you want asked/answered. Send an email to me: craig AT fencing.net to get fastest response.

If we continue to get good response on these interviews, we'll work out a regularly scheduled podcast that will allow us to expand what we cover.

    Phone Call from Vegas

Thought it would be easier not to be there but guess not.

Mariel Z goes out in the round of 8 to Marzolas 15-9.
Sada Jacobson goes out in the round of 8 to a Korean, Kim, husband didn't know which one.15-14
Becca W wins 15-4 over Velikia from Russia.
Tan Xue narrowly wins over another Korean 15-14.
The semi finals will be between Ms Ward and Kim from Korea AND Xue Tan and Marzolo from Italy.

Don't know what time the finals are yet.

    Final

    The Semi Final bouts were:
Ward over the Korean 15-4 (can that be true?) Evidently the last touch by B was a flying lunge.
    Tan Xui over Marsola 15=10.
Final bout is after teh women's foil gets done... not going anywhere for a while?
