Jackets

My question (again):

Do any of you know if you have to wear a Sabre Jacket in an FIE 'A' Grade competiton

also if you know, a box/cup

OK I have no experience of this, but I am pretty sure that any jacket that is approved by the fie is ok for any weapon at an A grade.
If you are talking about the jackets that dont have the bit of material that covers the groin area, then I dont think that these are approved by the fie anymore. As far as I can tell the 'normal' jackets meet the refulations re jackets as laid down in the rules for sabre anyway, but that the reverse is NOT true ie a sabre jacket cannot be used for epee/foil.
A box is not required, but I would reccomend it
(please lets not get into THAT debate again).

thanx for that [i didnt want to start up that debate again either, but that was for national, not international] coz i am trying to budget & if i decide to enter foil as well as sabre i didnt want to have to buy another jacket
