| Here's the schedule link: http://en.beijing2008.cn/cptvenues/schedule/
I'll be posting more information on the Olympics section here next week. Got to start doing the team profiles.
And yes, I'll be watching the "press box live feed" sitting somewhere in the venue and then running off to interview some of the fencers and do my write ups while getting Serge to hand off the photos of the day for uploading.
I'll be there for Fencing.Net, Serge Timacheff of FencingPhotos.com will be there for the FIE and Serge's wife will also be there (using my 2nd credential) to help us both out and keep us on track.
BTW - If you're going to be at Summer Nationals, come by the Fencing.Net booth as we'll have Serge's photos there as well and they are *very* cool, especially printed out 11x17!

Even though ABC did start the "Up Close and Personal" BS, they did show the sports without having cutaways to something completely irrelevant every 30 seconds.
Maybe I'm misremembering.... | "Shut up, Bob Costas!!"
Sorry--reflex.
As to the question of how good the U.S. TV coverage of fencing at Beijing will be, I'm not optimistic. U.S. TV doesn't tend to cover "niche" sports like fencing unless an American athlete makes a medal round (and preferably wins the gold). And ever since NBC started covering the Olympics, I've pretty much given up on trying to find the five minutes of actual competition buried in the commercials and the personality profiles and the rest of the crap.
Miffed--who, me?

| Now what are the odds of that? |

Recorded action of MS and WF, semis and finals of WE and MF live. I guess organizers of Wimbledon asked too much so fencing got a chance More coming on Thu, Fri and Sat.
Funnily, they had to build a new piste in the middle of MF semi, because the roof started leaking on the finals piste...

Men's Team Sabre and Epee have a reasonable shot, too, so long as Venezuela doesn't keep Men's Epee from earning a team berth.

| ...Perhaps we better start using a good ole fashioned game of rock, paper, scissor to determine priority from now on? Might get us more coverage!

It will cost you about $14/month. TV5 has no commercials and has great programs from all around the world, all in French with English subtitles for movies.
See www.tv5.org (TV5MONDE is the only global French language network,
broadcasting 24 hours a day worldwide.
Watch Premium Films, News, Sports, Documentaries, and more!)
There are also some Chinese language TV channels where we will probably see plenty of the Olympics. |
