| Leon Paul Top quality Glove just wondering what makes this glove so top quality (besides extra padding)?
As i have always used cheap no frills 25$(canadian) pbt gloves
and was looking at trying something different.
The pbt ones usually end up getting stretched out and the seems start to pull apart, in about 6-12 months the glove becomes slightly unusable.

| The one that LP calls "Top Quality" is not much different from the PBT goves. I have gone through about 3-4 of each over the past few years. The LP is slightly better made, but the material is very similar and still wears through in about the same amount of time. The big difference is that the PBT gloves are cut for people with wide hands and short fingers and the LP gloves are cut for people with thin hands and long fingers, which is why I use LP or Allstar now.

| Why such a huge price difference between the Absolute and the PBT?
The fact of the matter is that high quality materials and high quality craftsmanship cost more.
That may or may not translate to better durability or fit.
The LP glove also has a 350 N cuff, and I really like the padding. I have to disagree about the cut. I have moderately stubby fingers, and the LP fits me perfectly. |

| I think PBT is good enough at a high price range glove with resonable price |

| Well, the LP has nice material... Everywhere except for the elastic part of the cuff. I got my nice 50 dollar glove, and the second time I used it, someone put their tip through the elastic cuff, and it came out the other side. So yeah, I got two holes in the middle of the wrist of my brand new glove the second time I used it...

| The gripstar was the first expensive glove I ever bought. Totally worth every penny, I heart it.

| It does. At least the allstar version with the little red grip dot stickers on it. Still a good glove, but at this point, I'd rather just go with the regular red and white suede glove that they make, the grip star stricker things are pretty much just a gimmick.

Once the glove breaks in and the palm side roughens up, grip increases a bit anyway. |

I feel like I can feel my blade better with it.

| not sure which leon paul glove you're talking about but the higher priced LP that i have is not thick at all in the fingers. its the best glove i've had so far.
OP: if you haven't already done so, you should check out what jim has over there, |

I have an Allstar 'grippy' glove that I've now had (and used approximately 3~6 hours/week, not including competitions) for 2 years. It's also been washed several times.
The little red rubbery things have now begun to wear off my thumb and index finger, but I'd say 2 years is a very good life span. (And the rest of the glove is still in good condition, this refers to the rubbery dots only.)
For me it's more than just a gimmick. I love this glove and for my hand it's very comfortable. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a 'grippy' glove.

| We've been meeting at the U of C Wednesday's (7-9) and Sundays (4-6). Wednesday is open, been mostly foilists showing up, no epeeists and about 4 of us do sabre. Sunday we've been doing foil pools. We're not very competitive but it's good to get some practice in. |
