| See Mike Harm's post of 09/30 under bigpoppa's "self training" heading... he gives an excellent resource there.
Good luck!

| Rudy Volkmann's book. You can get it through Triplette or right here on fencing.net.
Great book. Good fencing dummy plans.

| In all seriousness Bugaboo, a fencing dummy is just what it says. Basically it's a padded mannikan(sp?) that you can use to practice your point controll, cuts etc. on when you don't have a "real" person to hit. I think they can be adapted to hold the differant weapons so you can practice your beats as well. I've found our dummy "Fred" to be quite helpfull!! If nothing else he doesn't complain when you hit too hard.

| eh!
Fred I'm noy complaining just looking for any advice anyone has.
I'm a bit a wee bit frustrated as no-one round here (in the UK) has any idea how to go about building one of these.
Also no-one has heard of Rudy Volkman's book. |

| Gav,
Have you tried to order one for overseas shipping? Ask Craig who is suppling the ones being sold here.
Also Triplette may ship you one. You can get Philip Jones' e-mail address from their site (www.triplette.com). I'm sure he'll let you know either way.
Let me know if either approach works...

| The book order form on this site emails Rudy the order.
If the address is international, he'll contact you with a quote on the international shipping charges based upon how you want to receive it.

| Gav,
No offense but sabres my game and I plan on sticking with it - I have a REAL problem with that whole "hitting with the point" thing so epee and foil frustrate the **** out of me!!

| Ok Fred apology accepted (sorry I got a bit tetchy).
Craig, I've tried using the link on the website but I keep getting a "page not found..." message.
Damianip, thanks for the advice! For some reason I can't get fencing net's link to work so I've emailed Triplette. So we'll wait and see.
And finally Ladybug. Remember that attacking with the point is just as valid in Sabre as in Epee. I've beaten a couple of good Sabreurs by using the point. Takes 'em by surprise! |

| Thanks, Ladybug, but I was asking about the posessive form of the subhead (apostrophe-S) on this particular thread.
But thanks for the explanation anyway! |
