| Rewiring a new EPEE blade Should I put any glue at the top of the bare blade before screw the point base?
Also, should put the glue at the top of the blade or start from the tang? |

| Start from just below the barrel, but do NOT get any glue on the threads or in the barrel (put the barrel on before you glue). Also make sure the glue does not go below the shoulder near the tang.

| You should also read this great, long, detailed article on how to wire a blade.
Applicable for both epee and foil blades.
Unfortunately there are no guides to date on how to rewire a sabre blade.

| I don't know the particulars of the PBT test box. I use a Favero (and now am learning on the TwisterBox - thanks Gary!)
Did you follow the instructions and only put in about an inch of wire before tightening the barrel down?
Problems I typically see when rewiring epee blades:
1. Pulling wire through and then tightening barrel = can cut the insulation on the wires and cause a ground
2. Pulling wire through too fast - can strip off the insulation if the wire doesn't use a varnish (like the LP wires)

| If the green light stays on it is because you have shorted a wire. Usually at the bell by pinching, sometimes at the barrel by scraping off the insulation during assembly, rarley in the wire between the two and occasionally at the plug because of excess wire.
Repairs are easy, diagnostics are not. |

| Rewire problem Hi all,
Coming back to the sport after a 10-yr absence, especially as amateur armorer for my 10-yr old new fencer. Having a heck of a time re-wiring a Leon Paul epee blade with a Leon Paul wire. After placing the wire in the tip and gluing it down, I get a normal red light on my test box indicating that there's connectivity though the wire. However, when I assemble the epee, I get a red and green light indicating a short somewhere. Taking it a step at a time, I get the red/green lights when the socket touches the tang of the blade and/or the guard. I'm assuming there's a short somewhere because I've stripped the insulation from a part of the wire during assembly. Is that right? Other ideas? Thanks for the information. |

| Hmm Teeluca, sounds like a short. Take your trusty multi-meter and dial in ohms. With out the socket on, contact a wire with one lead and contact the tang with the other. If there is a positive reading, that wire is shorted to the blade. |
