As for your medal... if you hadn't have left early you'd have it. Don't be blaming me for walking out on your own hardware. As for Noahz promises... wait, you are listening to Noah?

Yeah, ok, I guess I dropped the ball believing Noah....

But I did stay till the end and there wasn't any mention of medals. It's not a big deal; I thought you were just including them this year so I wanted to ***** a bit.

Last Chance for Epeepalooza - Our strongest event ever!

Epeepalooza is looking to be, as usual, the strongest event of the year! Who can bear through the power of this top-heavy A4 event?!?!

Registration (only $20) ends today! Even if you miss it, you can still register at the door for only $10 extra.

    Register here: http://askfred.net/Events/whoIsComin...nament_id=2578

The finals and awards ceremony will be in the 7th floor ballroom of the NYAC, overlooking Central Park. Bring a change of clothes so you can join us (men: slacks, dress shoes and a collared shirt... equivalent for women. No denim, gym shoes, shorts, gym or street clothes please).

Cannot wait to see you all there on Sunday!

What about those actually fencing the finals, ie receiving awards... Will they have to bring a change of clothes as well? And, since you have the policy (?) of assigning fencers who have been eliminated to referee one bout before they get to leave, what about them (or are you going to have assigned refs for the finals)?

Just a few things I was wondering.

I'll try to show, but that'll depend on the state of my knee... Can't make any promises beyond that.

Those competing in the finals will obviously be wearing their fencing outfits. As for refs, we will have special refs for the final bouts.

Hope you can make it. Would be great to have you there... See you on Sunday!

These guys and girls know that every fencer was once a U, and the only way to improve is by gaining experience through fencing with top fencers and watching them face each other in later bouts. They are ballsy, and it will likely pay off for them one day.

Did you hear that Jon Normile will be competing! Ooops... change what I said above... Jon was never a U :-) David Rosenberg, Marc Oshima and Michael Feldschuh will also be there! Anybody who still wants to come, you can register at the door (until 10am).

    See you all on Sunday!

Tommi Hurme showed what Texans are made of when he fought his way through a periless field to become the 2007 Epeepalooza Champion.

    Full Results on AskFred

    YEE-HAW!
Tommi (NYAC), the 2003 Junior National Champion, 2006 Senior National Finalist and current US #13, won a close 15-14 quarter-final bout over the #1 US cadet James Kaull (Chevy Chase FC) to earn a spot in the final four.

In the semi-final bout, which was fenced in the Athletic Club Ballroom, Tommi faced Atilla Lukacs (North Shore FC) of Hungary. With Atilla up 7-3, Tommi slowly worked his way back to another close 15-14 victory.

On the other side of the draw, US Junior #12 James Hawrot (Rhode Island FA) beat defending Epeepalooza champion Alex Tsinis (NYAC) to earn his spot in the gold medal match. As a special note, Alex... at 27 years of age, was the oldest fencer in the final 8... signaling an astounding take-over by the youth in an event packed with such legendary fencers as John Normile, Marc Oshima, Michael Feldschuh, and Alex Abend.

In the gold medal matchup, Tommi was not to be denied... and fenced his way to a sound 15-9 finish. Congratulations Tommi!

    Alex Abend Beaten At Last!
In other exciting news, Michael Feldschuh accomplished what no other fencers has been able to accomplish all season long: He knocked Alex Abend out of Epeepalooza. His 15-13 win over Alex in the round of 32 earned him a $150 gift certificate and a one-of-a-kind "I beat Alex Abend" mug, presented to him by Alex himself.

    2007 Mercuy Cup Champion
Alex Abend is your 2007 Mercury Cup champion. In renewing his title from last season, Alex earned 3,920 points out of a maximum 4,000 by winning 3 of 6 Mercury Cup events and taking second place at a fourth event. Alex's name will again be engraved on the Mercury Cup, housed in the Athletic Club's famous trophy room. Alex also received $500 in equipment and a take-home beer stein. Congratulations Alex!

    Final Mercury Cup Standings
    #1 - Alex Abend (3,920 points)
    #2 - Nicholas Vomero (2,585 points)
    #3 - Brent Kelly (2,465 points)

The entire Mercury Cup point list can be found at http://askfred.net/Results/plist.php?list_id=213

    Special Notes
    - Andrew Bostick (Medeo) earned his "A" though his 5th place finish. Andrew was the only non-A to make it into the round of 8
    - Michael Rossi (FA Westchester) who was the only C to make the round of 16, earning him a "B".

    Epeepalooza Results
We had an excellent turnout of 65 fencers, including 22 A's (13 of which are on the national senior point list), to make this a grueling A4 rated event.

The full results including pools and the DE table can be viewed at http://askfred.net/Results/results.p...nament_id=2578
