My coach bought an electric saber when he was at World Vet Champs in Budapest and he loves it. He also bought the hightop fencing shoe and he like them as well.
My wife is a saber fencer and she wants to get a PBT saber because it is light and well balanced. Even though it is the 2000 blade they modeled it in a way to be comfortable.

I know several people who have PBT masks. Not bad.

forgive my naivity, but PBT? I havent heard of them down here (New Zealand) as we only have vendors (which are coaches anyway) for Allstar, Leon Paul, Prieur & Soudet

for me with the way our enconmy is at the moment (stoopid labour!) its much chear for me to buy from uhlmann than anywhere else. I think - i just brought a leon paul budget maraging blade at the old price of NZ$ 129 - but if i ordered on now it would cost NZ$216 - which i could buy an Uhlmann FIE Sabre mask for (which i'm gonna need) so even from the states its pretty bad for me - so i'll stick with the germans for now i think

One of the guy's over here has tried PBT (Epee). Doesn't like the tips. Quality seems pretty poor when you compare it with France-Lames or Allstar. Doesn't even rate against Leon-Paul.

The quality is typical of a lot of eastern Europe suppliers. Wait for their economies to improve.

Ok, I got one of their FIE ultralight jackets. it feels like wearing a t shirt. It's pretty awesome. I'll keep you all posted on how long it lasts. One note, be sure to use their size conversion chart. i take a 42 in blade and triplette jackets, but my PBT is a 52

My old coach tried the PBT shoes from Triplette and they wore out in less than 2 months. However a friend picked up a PBT glove at the NAC last weekend and loves it, says it feels the same as the Uhlmman glove for a better price.

I have one of PBT foil balde (non-FIE), served me quite long, about 2 years till it broke.
I must say the foil tip is quite sturdy. Infact I used the old barrel and tip for another blade.

Well, the Hungarian teams uses their stuff. Their stuff is a bit pricier than Uhlmann so I don't know why I would spend more. As for electrical parts, stick with Uhlmann and Allstar to avoid disappointments.
HOWEVER! If you want to get PBT stuff cheaper, contact László T. Béres
at texafit@swbell.net for cheaper prices. He has no overhead to deal with and is related to US Modern Pentathlon. He has some stuff on hand and can always order more. He's Hungarian and makes trips to Hungary a couple times a year.

I tried contacting Laszlo. Never got an email reply.

However, I'd be happy to purchase about a gross of the Ildiko Mincza posters. :-)

I was at a tournament over the weekend and the PBT crew had a table set up. I bought a pair of their shoes, they are a lot more comfortable than my adidas were when I first bought them. Their FIE jackets and knickers seemed very light, and the foil blades, both FIE and non, were on the flicky side.

    To edew,
When I contacted him, it took awhile before I got a response. He listed some really low prices when I ask for prices on some items. Here's more info on him from the PBT site.
