Olympic Videos

Since I'm doing the FIE refereeing exam in Prague in October, I'm practicing up on refereeing a video.

I'm looking specifically for the video of the 2004 Olympic men's foil team final (italy vs china).

I've got some other footage, but anyone who is willing to provide/send further DVD's will be handsomely rewarded.

Hmm, funny world. I've been trying to source high level video for a while on fencingforum and here it pops up.

Down Under, I can offer (Athens 2004) the Cassara v Ganeev MF Bronze bout, Trillini v Vezzali WF Gold bout, Sanzo v Guyart MF Gold bout.

I also have the Italy v China MF Team Gold bout, but an interesting word of caution; The Hungarian referee for this match (Jozsef Hidasi) received a little slap on the wrist for his presiding. Suspended for two years.

Just a heads up in case your initial instincts, then your repeated viewing, then your slow-mo replay clashed with certain calls. Probably this is why you are specifically looking at this match.

This was overturned. I refereed with Jozef in the London Junior World Cup foil last October. Anyone who has any idea about international fencing knows he was screwed over, and that the referee he shared the fight with made just as many mistakes.

The reason why I want it is because I've been told by people who know what they are talking about that that video is the flavour of the month for the exam.

Oh as well: we referee, not preside.

I've watched the China-Italy Gold medal match several times. I don't think Hidasi did anything that looked obviously biased for the italians. He shared the match with Piotr Kielpekowski (sp? obviously).
