Good Hotels in Houston?

Hey, I'm going to tournament in Houston and wondering if there are any good hotels around. The results I get when I search the web keep pulling up ones that look - less than desirable. So for those of you that have been to Houston, could you advise me on a good one?

What tournament? What venue? If it's at the Academy of Fencing, there's some decent places just up loop 610. The Sheraton Suites is very nice, though probably pricy (we got a great rate for the SYC) and there's some others all along there in the more moderate vein.

Well, there are eight Hiltons in Houston. You can't go wrong with Hilton, and beside Paris is going to need your money to buy off the gangs in the joint.

That's true, got a good laugh out of that one.
The tournament will be at the Houston Athletic Fencing Center. Sorry I wasn't more specific.

Houston is one of the best cities in the country for deals on Priceline.com. I've stayed in a number of very nice places for quite inexpensive deals. And on the weekend, its actually quite easy to get around town. Try 3 star downtown hotels for $70 or so.
