Subway Venture

I just went to Subway, a restaurant (?) that I truly enjoy. There I have two sandwiches: the BMT and the Turkey and Ham.

The Turkey and Ham I always get on Honey Oat with swiss cheese, of course toasted, and dressed with lettuce, black olives, onions, banana peppers, and dijion mustard. I usually get this with some chips to fill me up.

Well today I decided to forgo the chips while in line, and apparently trying to make that decision threw me off completely. I ordered the sandwich with the correct bread, and I thought I noticed the sandwich artist using more meat than usual. Hurray! However, while getting it dressed I reverted to the dressing options I normally put on my BMT, and I completely forgot about the banana peppers (quite possibly the most important part). Also, when she asked me what kind of dressing, I said "honey mustard" and was not quick enough to realize my mistake. I thought, "well, it won't be too bad, the honey mustard, while not as good as the dijion, is still quite tasty." So I go to checkout, hand the girl my credit card, sign my bill and get into my car (it's a pickup order). Only then do I realize I was charged for a Subway Melt, a whole $0.40 more!! Upon eating the sandwhich, I realized that the ham was not the best quality. It had some parts that were fatty that did not appease me. After the sandwich was finished, I realized that the chip decision made before the order (and the cause of all my mistakes) was in itself, a mistake.

Just an example of how wrong a simple lunch can go. I warn all of you: don't ever slack on the considerations you make for lunch. It can ruin your whole day, as it has mine.

Your first mistake was stopping at Subway to eat.

Does Subway count as a restaurant in the US?

We think of it as a fast food place over here.

I'm now wondering if this is another of those terms that doesn't travel well over the pond.

They do call them Subway Westwants in those commercials with that mediocre comedian. You know, the "EAT FWESH!" ones.

Quiznos is better.

Subway counts as real food about as much as "Olive Garden" counts as Italian food.

I thought this was going to be a rant concerning the NYC subway system... like with trains.

Even though it wasn't, I still feel that it is appropriate to point out that I hate the NYC subway system.

A chain of restaurants around these parts. I used to take a lady friend of mine to the local Olive Garden, though she had a bad case of heartburn the last time we went. Now we just stick to our usual mexican place.

Ugh. I hate to say it but that doesn't look like what I would term a restaurant.

I think I am slightly spoiled. I live 10-15 minutes walk to 5-6 reasonably priced and regarded restaurants. And about twice that number of pubs.
