| Dear Tom Powell, I can be a creep too. Well most of you guys know who "Elon1990" is, and those who don't should do a forum search on it.
I know this is a topic that comes up regularly, and I'm sure you're all pretty sick of hearing it, but this one is slightly different.
He messaged me, I was overly friendly, and finding out he was from fnet made my guard drop. We talked and I gave up way too much information, luckily I did a forum search on his screen name before too much damage could be done. Still, I was concerned. Not for my own safety, but concerned about my pride. I had been tricked, insulted, and made a fool of.
So then, why is this situation so special?
Well, what "Elon1990" doesn't realize is that talking to people on the internet is a double edged sword. True, most people are nice and people like this guy are pretty rare. (this is my first encounter with one) He didn't realize though, that there are nutjobs out there like me that have access to all sorts of lovely information, and are willing to look it up.
So I looked up anything and everything I could about him, and I'm still gathering information. I feel secure knowing that if he really is crazy enough to bother me, I have just as much capacity to bother him.
I'll keep this post updated as I find more info.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Tom Powell (I believe he may actually be Tom Powell IV, and live with his father, since there is a Tom E Powell IV and a Thomas Powell at the same address.)
707 Meadowood Drive
Burlington, North Carolina 27215-4681
(336) 584-5400
Email:tpowell2@triad.rr.com
RESIDENTS & PROPERTY REPORT FOR: 707 MEADOWOOD DR , BURLINGTON
BEDROOMS: 3
YEAR BUILT: 1996 His house
He (surprisingly) is NOT a registered sex offender. His ebay account Penelopes Pitshoppe, his favorite store
It looks like that account is used to buy little girls clothing. I can't say for sure what he might want to do with it all, but I can confirm that he bought a bunch on April 5th/7th 2006 and his last activity was in December. And that he probably doesn't wear it.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
That'll be all for now. If I decide to look up more info later I will. That Ebay account made me sick to my stomach. I thought you guys might take some solace in having this information, so he's no longer just some creepy person behind a screen name. He's a real person with a face (which I'll be looking for next) and a real address and phone number, along with real sick perversions. |

| Um, how do you know that there isn't a little girl living in the house or something?

Nothing in my post is exclusively incriminating, don't get me wrong. With enough coincidences he could just be a totally normal person who is misunderstood. I don't think that's likely though, and for the sake of anyone who's been bothered by him I posted this info. |

| I would like to personally withdraw my pervious post where i mentioend giving him a second chance...
I may not have given him mnuch info, but to even think of helping him.. damn i'm getting rusty on my character judegment. Should've figured that him being the most mentioned name to block i've heard since joining this forum there would be a good reason.
As far as we know he has yet to actually do anything, but if he does and you hear about it, you mgiht wanna notify the police of that area about this forum.
Honestly though, i'd like to encourage everyone to block him from their buddy list. That's probably the best thing to do.
Again, sorry for sticking up for him, i thought things might've been different, i was stupid.
Edit: BTW I'm pretty sure he is Tom E Powell IV one ofhis other SN's has tep in it, probably his intials.

| I don't know if you did us a service or not. He obviously hasn't made any effort to hide anything about himself- I don't know. It's actually more creepy to me that you were able to figure out so much personal stuff about him than that he buys little girl's clothing. |

Nothing scary here except that there's more info out there about you than you'd like to believe. |

| There has always been a lot of information out there about you, the only difference now is that it is either publicly available or in places that can be hacked into. You can still slide under the radar (to varying degrees) it just takes effort.
I spent a good chunk of my life on a minimal number of databases… I’ve relaxed that stance, so there info floating around on me... but less than most people my age. |

Worse case scenario I have to get up and walk to the kitchen to grab the phone for some social engineering.
20 years ago I'd have to search through courthouses and libraries and such. |

| While I'm sad to hear that he's at it AGAIN, and part of my wants to applaud you for this...
Escalation isn't always the best way to solve things, and something like this can blow up in your face. Be careful, dude.

| Thomas Powell - tpowell2@triad.rr.com, wrote to the USFA requesting to be put in contact with one of the more prominent female fencers. When I contacted him for "more information", he actually used the fact that I replied to him in a personal email to this fencer to legitimize himself. I still don’t know how he got her contact info. |

What did he want from this fencer? |

| I think the USFA should check their site, just to make sure there are no security holes that allowed him access to this fencer (and any other fencer's) information.
Though i don't think it was the USFA's fault. He probably got it from her club's website. |

i find it more scary how easily people throw about information people can use to determine your identity, and from there, more sensitive information.

| This fencer had the good sense to write to me right away. Best way to deal with this sort of situation is to find out as much information from people you know you can trust. |
