Targets

Hey guys... I remember a thread a while ago about making targets for practice, and can't find it anymore. Does anyone know where I could find plans for a homemade target?

If you want the deluxe target, Volkmann's Big Book Of Fencing has plans for making a fencing dummy, I have one and its great.
The other varient that seems popular is the ball on a string. You take a golf ball, and screw an eyehook on it and dangle it from a string for target practice. You can also use a tennis ball, or ping pong ball target on using the same principle. With the tennis ball target I have I just screwed an eyehook into the tennis ball then sealed it up with some marine goop (type of glue you can get in most hardware stores). I have one of those adhesive cup hooks that I put on my ceiling that I have the string for it attached to in my apartment, when I'm done practicing I just put the eyehook on the hook to get it out of the way.
Another cheap option for non-moving targets is to just put little patches of duck tape on spots you want to hit on a door or wall. I did that with a punching bag I had once.
And there is the ever popular method of just tagging doorknobs that doesn't need anything special.

Shadow Fencer
I have a hanging tennis ball. I also taped up a padded square made of foam and drew pictures on it as targets. I thought I was going to construct a fencing dummy, but after reading the directions, the effort was more than I was willing to put into it. I figured my twice a week fencing practice with real people would meet my need for target practice!
