| Northwest Fencing Center Pre Nationals Foil And Epee Camp NORTHWEST FENCING CENTER

503-277-2237 Pre Nationals Camp Foil and Epee Dates:June 18-22, 2007 Objective: This camp's objective is to prepare athletes for the upcoming Division I National Championships and the Summer National Championships. Emphasis will be on competitive bouting and tactical skills. Athletes will receive individual attention as well as being placed in many competitive situations. Camp Director: Michael Marx
Fencing Master of the NorthWest Fencing Center. Michael earned his Master of Arms degree in Poland in 1992, and is a staff member of the USFA Coaches College, teaching upper-level classes. A five-time Olympic team member in 1980, 1984, 1988, 1992 and 1996, Michael is the only male fencer in the last 50 years to make the U.S. Olympic team in two weapons: foil and epee. He is a five-time USOC Athlete of the Year. Michael earned a record eight U.S. national championships in foil. He has coached the 1997-2003 Junior, Cadet and Senior World Championship teams. His students have earned over 50 national titles, and competed on the last 4 Olympic teams in both epee and foil. Tournament: The Oregon State Games tournament will be held the weekend before camp (June 16-17). Campers are encouraged to arrive on Friday June 15 and participate in the tournament. (Campers who are not Oregon residents are welcome to participate.) Cost: The camp fee is $100 per day, which includes camp, homestay (for campers under age 21), meals and NWFC-scheduled evening activities. If housing is not needed, the cost is $80 per weekday. Campers wishing to arrive early for the Oregon State Games tournament pay only $80 for the entire weekend, which includes housing, food and tournament entry fees.
A nonrefundable $50 deposit is required to register; the balance of the camp fee is due on the camper's first day of camp. Housing: A limited amount of housing is available with NWFC families. Housing is provided on a first-come basis, based on date of receipt of registration form and deposit. No housing requests will be accepted after June 1, 2007.
