| Heh, my younger brother confessed to me today that he got into my Screech while I
was gone this weekend.
I don't think he'll be doing that again. Quote:

| I discovered a new "Canadian-ism".
You're at a wedding reception and a group of Canadians start banging their cutlery against their wineglasses. What are they expecting to happen as a result of their actions?

| Down here in Southern Canadia it means that the bride and groom are expected to kiss. |

The Americans at a wedding I attended some time ago, seemed confused and thought it meant we wanted a speech. Perhaps it isn't a Canadian-American thing after-all.

Oh... I found some more Canadian slang that Inq would understand... "What's that funk?"
and "Turn off your blinker". |

| I never heard of that meaning anything but a kiss. Quote:

| I think it depends on the gathering. If it was at a different kind of banquet, I could see that it would mean that the guest of honour should make a speech rather than kiss the man or woman beside him/ her.
I'm beginning to realize that the groom didn't know about the custom and assumed it was a "Canadian" thing.
Since the Canadians at the wedding were a rowdy bunch, we were the ones making the most noise.

Or, my genuine answer - My, something has arisen which is completely unexpected. I wonder if it is worth investigating... Turn that sodding camera off. I've told you before that you're not videoing this and posting it on the net. Bastard that you are....
Alternatively - You've left your indicator light on.

| Would the passport be in the form of beer, or just mocking of Americans?

| Oh... I see you've already got your Canadian passport.
Here's a wee bit more slang...
"D'art is clearly a Chucklehead...."
"Around duckish I managed to doused me head as I went into the cuddy. When I slew around, it was darker den a cow's gut."

| Perhaps this moose will find himself an agreeable (real) buffalo... we might be seeing Mooseffaloes or Buffooses around here soon. They're both ungulates....

| My sister commented that skookum is a slang word that originated locally (it's a salish Indian word).
Rep for whoever wants to provide a definition.
