| stupid questions asked by non-fencers ok we ALL get these.
ive gotten some pretty atrocious ones in my time, and some that are fairly common. such as,
"do you get to STAB people?'
"do you stab people until someone tells you to stop?"
"do you use actual swords?"
and so on and so forth.
please tell me the worst questions you've gotten! |

| Do you walk around town with your sword challenging people to duels?
Do you have to slap somebody with a glove to initiate a duel?
Do you get to yell things like, "Parry, parry ---thrust!"?

| "Ah, you do fencing. Are you some sort of poof?"
Actually, now you mention it, no, I'm not. Are you?
"Do you have your own sword?"
Well, do you own your own golf bats?
"You don't look rich..."
You don't look like a plonker, either...

I know I should try to loose a bit of weight, but no, I don't need quite THAT a big bag for my bikini...

Non Fencer: "So wait. You are afraid of needles but you're not afraid of your swords? Aren't they similar?"

For my own contributions...
"Picket or chain link?"
"You fence? Really? Cuz I've been trying to get a good stereo but I really can't afford it. Can you help me?" |

| "Do you get to kill people?"
I'll kill you if you don't bugger off.
"What's fencing?"
Next.
"Is that real swordfighting?"
No, we use imaginary swords.
"Ooh, isn't it scary?"
Yes. I'm deathly afraid of little bits of metal. |

| "Electric foil? Do you get a shock if you get hit?" *pause* "Well, it should! That'd be cool!"
"So the jacket is white so that you can see the blood easier right?" |

Me: | I get this a lot too. (please pretend that is the old, more exasperated-looking smilie) People just don't get the difference between puncturing vs. poking, protective gear and masks vs. a needle puncturing the skin.... *sigh* |

| Yeah, "Do you get shocked?"
"What's a lame?" It's a metal jacket that you wear for electric scoring. "Whoooa! How can you move?!"
"Do you wear suits of armour?" |
