Official Decision on 2008 Cadet/Junior World Championships

Are there going to be cadets in the 2008 world championship? Also, I saw early that they said it was going to be in Catanina Italy and is that a final decision?

    thanks

Do you actually have any reasonable chance of making the team if it happens, or making the Olympic team in 2012? Your single topic on this forum is that, but somehow I am suspicious whether you're really that good. Can you give us a ballpark of how high you are on the current cadet points standings? It doesn't need to be an exact number (if you're afraid of us finding out who you are) but at least a ballpark would be nice.

I'm sorry Eac, but did you make a habit to talk to elite only, and your rank doesn't allow you to give a simple answer to the humbles below you?

No. I don't particularly consider myself elite. The point is, fencein2012USA has billed himself as elite or elite-to-be in both his name and his comments, and I'm wondering whether he has the stuff to back it up, or whether he's just full of hot air.

Oh common eac...allow the man some pride. Besides, 2012 is in a long time. Anybody can make the team if they practise hard starting now...Hell, I still have my hopes up, and I will be the first to admit I don't have the results to back it up:P

The person simply posted a question about the 2008 Junior/Cadet Worlds. Why jump down his throat? It would better for you to share any knowledge about this with the forum. If you don't wish to, simple suggest he or she email C.Greenman.

Just by posting what list he's on we could probably figure out who he is.

Actually, we probably could get a good idea already.

    It's a small fencing world...

Foilydeath: No, I don't think just anybody can make the team. In four years, a lot can happen, but I don't think you can go from not even Junior points to Olympics. I have no idea where you are, but if the OP isn't on the top 1/3 of the Cadet points standings, I'd be very iffy about his chances for the 08 Cadet team, and mildly iffy about his Olympic chances. (That said, he said he was in Konin, the Cadet International, so he probably is in the top 1/3.)

Three cities (Bangkok, Catania, Cancun) were candidate to the
organisation of the 2008 J/C World Championships, further to the
withdrawal of Egypt. At the second ballot, Catania (ITA) was elected by the Executive Committee for the organization of these
Championships. The dates are from 7 to 15 April 2008.

As i understand it, this will be the last cadet world championships.

    You're a ****** ******, eac.

Besides, fencers arent the only ones interestd in the cadets world champs. Think about the coaches, where sometimes their cadets are their cash cows?

He's a fencer, don't worry. Probably not all that bad, either; he just likes to bug the forums about topics he could probably find out better himself, in order to give himself an opportunity to talk about OMG im so good.

Actually, I am not a fencer. I am a father who has a son that has a dream of competiting in the 2012 Olympics and competing next year in the championships if they are held. And all I asked was a simply question. Thanks eac for all of your help.

Also , he wants to fence next year in the 2008 cadet championships if they are held. I am just interested in cadet fencing because my son is fencing in the cadet age group. And thanks again for all of the help eac, I really appreciate it.

And if you guys really want to know, my son is in the top half of the points list in cadet mens sabre. And I would like eac's professional opinion and tell me what are his chances and who he thinks will make it.

If your son is in the top half of the CMS point list today, then he should be in the top 10 when the 1990 kids roll the off the list. That's definitely within striking distance of making next year's cadet team. Good luck to him. And don't hesitate to ask questions. That's what this forum is for.

I agree that eac was out of line, but just let it go. I'm casually acquainted with eac and consider him a pretty nice guy. We all have bad days.

    thanks

there should be more people like you on this forum, rather than those low life like eac who have no lives and post on this website all day.

Agreed re possiblity of making the team. No way to predict however. Just have your kid make top 32 in every Cadet and Junior NAC, and the JO's, and most certainly try to go to the Cadet international designated events next season. Last but not least, and of course the most difficult, is to get some Div I points. That can often make or break things, as the Div I points have huge value at the Cadet level. But I forgot, fencing is for fun, not for points, right? Seriously, give it a shot and I wish you both good luck.

Yeah, my last couple comments were fairly dumb. Sorry guys; next time I'll pull one fewer all-nighters before posting, and not be so dumb.
