| I was taught with a French grip, so that's what I use. Although I have absolutely no problem using a pistol grip should some bizarre turn of events occur (and they have ) |

| What about Belgain? What about all of the other grips? I prefer Belgain because all the other grips I tried twisted my hand but the Belgain gave my hand room to move while giving the form fitting grip of a pistol. Also I have found that the Belgain give really strong lateral parries. The thing I don't like if the part the goes along the heel of the hand will kill a glove in no time at all. Also because of it's length Prime and other parries like it are tough because you have to almost let go of the grip to get the proper angle. I may switch to a Russian soon though. |

| None of those options looks like it spells "sabre". The poll is flawed. |

| Alright. Let me just save you all some time. Read the cliff notes version of what's going to happen in this thread after this post: - Praise of Italian Grip
- Insult of Italian Grip
- Discussion of the historical merit and importance of the italian grip
- Insult to classical fencers
- Long rant on how classical fencers are the only real fencers
- Remark that classical fencing isn't actually historical
- Refocus of the thread to how great the french grip is
- Statement that no one uses a french grip
- Talking about posting in Epee and how many solid athletes do it
- Random ranting sabre fencer
- Snide comment by inq
- Random introspective "flow of thought speecH'
- Exression of annoyance with introspective
- Death of thread.

| I believe you missed the call for use of the search function and the eventual resurrection of the thread by a new user two years from now.
To get it started: The Italian's true ricasso allows a better feel for the blade! Any true master of the Italian will destroy an anatomical grip fencer, because they don't grasp the subtleties of movements that can be made. And that's why all great fencers learned on and exclusively use the Italian!

| Pistol or French... I'll take whatever's in the pistol than try and learn French, but then again that's a typical Westerner's attitude..... opps... sorry I though the Canadians on the board were wanting to rehash the language issue...
Carry on with this oh so very compelling issue….

| Nah ha.... my post was driftier than yours... everyone smells oranges when they talk about their grip. So who's going to continue that conversation?... Now the French language issue... man they've been yapping about that for decades here... you just watch... this thread will drift as soon as some French speakers or another Canadian gets here.... so there!

| Poll is Flawed!
I use Viscontis for all of my Epees, except one that is French.
I use Russians for most of my Foils, except one that is Visconti, and one that is Belgian. (and when I'm coaching foil (I fence lefty, and usually coach righty), I use french.) |
