Do you employ a Western or Semi-western grip? (I prefer the latter: I still get enough topspin into my counterparries while being ready for any backhand infighting that might ensue.)
    Bon qu'à ça.

Of course, fencers in Quebec will insist on French-Canadian grips.

But the rest of Canadians have problems with them as they tend to want to separate from the blade.

Also I have found that the Belgain give really strong lateral parries. The thing I don't like if the part the goes along the heel of the hand will kill a glove in no time at all. Also because of it's length Prime and other parries like it are tough because you have to almost let go of the grip to get the proper angle. I may switch to a Russian soon though.

i used a Belgian for about 4 months.. afterwards i decided to switch cause it kept jamming my index finger... so now, i use a german.
