| Oh god...not again...
Foil. Cos it rocks. and Alberto Nadi agrees. But please, lets not let this digress into another "my weapon is better than your weapon" thread. |

| Poll is flawed, fencing implies it's not epee or saber.
I compete with foil, but I use all three: foil, saber, epee, in that order of frequency. |

| I use both foil and sabre for yard work.
I fence epee.

Moved to Hell, TX, no fencing to be found closer than Austin. Husband deployed to Saudi a few weeks later so even just sparring with (read: getting my butt kicked by) him wasn't an option. Stumbled across a local SCA group that held fighter practice in a nearby park. Worked out a deal with them so I could at least do SOMETHING fencing-wise. In return, I taught them cool tricks like parry-riposte instead of counter-attacking. |

After moving to Cville but before we started the CFA I was rather desperate myself and fenced for a while with the local SCA club until we got CFA rolling. They were less than receptive to some of my techniques however... Even plenty of fencing nowadays, I do occasionally enjoy a nice bout of cased schlager now and again.

Also handy to have in one's hip pocket if a new student is leaking those 'real swordfighting is better, not that you would know anything about that' vibes. The SCA/re-enactment crowd's version of street cred, perhaps?? |
