    Beginning Fencer

I would like to learn how to fence, but there are no available classes where I live. Could anyone give me any pointers or recommend any suppliers, books, etc.? I don't have a partner to practice with, so I know I will be missing out in that area, but I'd still like to learn. I hope that after I move (in around 8 months) the new location will have fencing facilities so that I can actually use my new-found skills! :-)
    Thanks so much.

there are many new places where fencing is now taught ...... tell us where you are and where you are moving to and perhaps we can identify a local fencing salon

I live in Cedar City, UT, but I would commute to St. George, UT for fencing classes. I am planning to go to college in Butte, MT.

    Thanks!

PS: Also, how do I know what blade would be suitible for me before I go out and actually buy one?

take lessons first, then buy equipment if possible. there is very little you can do to tell which weapon you will prefer untill you start working.
I can't remember if there is a club in theSt George area but if you contact the Utah southern Idaho division they should let you know.
    good luck.

Tlaera, there are others who suffer like you. I have wanted to fence for many years but never had the oppertunity untill I started a club at my school (teacher only tought foil at the air force academy; It's interesting) Keep looking and keep an open mind to many oppertunities.
