    <<The Duellists>> great movie!

Finally I rented this classic movie The Duellists with Keith Carradine and Harvey Keitel (the awsome) are really really good actors. This is one of very few films that actually depicts fencing as it was in period. Bloody and Lethal. The attention to detail is fantastic. The clothes are bang on and the combat looks like it was taken right out of the book. This is a fantastic description of military life during the Napoleonic Era. I am curious to know has anyone else got to see this movie, and if so did you enjoy it? And if you never saw it I recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good period piece, especially if you are a fan of the director Ridley Scott.

Awesome. I was looking for a good fencing movie to watch with a fellow fencer.

    Thanks!
I'm a "standard" fencer. I do things a bit differently so please forgive my ignorance on certain issues.

The Duellist is awesome. An amazing début from Ridley Scott. Fight choreography was done by Bill Hobbs. He's done some other great work as well. He's also a really nice guy. He owns a fencing club in London I used to train at.

I suggest "Sunshine," too. It doesn't focus on fencing, but there are some very nice competitive references and scenes from a bygone era. Good stuff.

Best movie fencing scene = The Mark of Zorro (1940)!
