    PBT scoring machine

Does anyone know anything about the PBT three-weapon machine (45-PBTSGLS) that they are selling at PBT USA for $350? It looks like it has a few advantages over the Eigertek, at a very good price. Why haven't I seen more people using them?

Also, are the PBT reels (44-PBT80) any good? They look similar to the Uhlmann turtle and/or the Allstar that I seem to remember.

The scoring machines are fine. Easy to hear and work well. We don't own any (have Favero and St. George), but I've fenced at clubs with them. I've never used the reels, but for the price the Favero reels are probably a better bet.

I watched Dan work on a PBT reel at JOs. Based on that experience, I'd say, NO WAY to a PBT reel. It's really a poor design. Go with the Faveros. They seem to be the best combination of economy, ruggedness and repair ease.

For repair ease, nothing beats the Leon Paul, but you get to practice more often than with the Uhlmann or, it seems, the Favero. The Favero seems to me to be easier to work on than the Uhlmann, although I haven't changed spring packs yet.

I have no experience with the PBT machine. LP had a sale on their club machine, you might see if it's still on sale. It's a nice design. You should be able to get a Favero machine for less than $350. We've had some for several years without any problems at all.

I have worked on both styles of PBT Reels both was a pain. anGet Leon Paul or Uhlmann. The Favero spring packs can be a Bit:H at times. Allstar reels can be a bear at times to fixed to.
