Sigh. There are incompetents in every profession. Don't tar 'em all with the same brush. And another saying: "If you promise not to believe everything your kid says about school, I promise not to believe everything your kid says about home."

I have served public education as a volunteer for 14 solid years. My husband and I chose Public K-12 for our now college student. However, we made sure that opportunities to participate in highly regarded private programs, independent study projects, and home-school curriculum were available, encouaged, and sometimes expected. After all once your work life kicks in the people you will encounter on a day to day basis will come from all of those walks ~ Delightfully it takes all kinds of educational tools to teach all kinds of learners.

Exactly. It takes a lot to make sure a kid is happy, productive and in good spirits for their childhood. If home ed works fine, if you are in a good public, private or whatever school situation then use it.

What annoys me is people coming in and posting that home schoolers are all weird fanatics. We aren't. We are just like everyone else but just don't happen to send our kids to school.

Knowing Peach in real life, I would think she is kind of a nutty, entertaining teacher in the classroom who does her teaching her own way. We couldn't find that.

Nuff said.
