Array Quick and dumb question are foil and epee tip screws the same? Ich will dass ihr mir vertraut

Array That's not as dumb a question as you think.
For French and German points, they're different. For LP they're the same. And you should be able to use LP screws in French and German epee points.
The French and German foil screws are much smaller than the French and German epee screws. You should be able to tell the difference. -

Array Just keep in mind that LP screws in a French or German tip are a permanent modification. LP screws are self tapping so they are great for when a French or German barrel starts shedding screws, but once you put an LP screw in there, you usually can't go back to using French or German screws. LP screws are well loved by armourers as a quick and easy fix for a tip that won't hold its proper screw. Just another lost soul saved by the (hit) First Church of EPEE!

Hmm, since my new StM blade I just got from Craig has an LP tip, this gives me a good excuse to given away/sell all the French foil & epee screws have I and buy a large bag of LP screws and convert all my weapons and perhaps the clubs also....

Array John, one very cool thing from an armoury point of view is that if you go with LP tips for foil and epee, the screws are interchangeable. They use the same screws for both points, so it cuts down on the parts you need to stock. Might also be a good time to go to a 3 prong socket for your all your club weapons also. Much more reliable IMHO than either 2 prong or bayonet for foil/saber. Just another lost soul saved by the (hit) First Church of EPEE!

Much more reliable IMHO than either 2 prong or bayonet for foil/saber. I recently switched my club over and it's been the best thing I've ever done. I've had 3-pin on my own weapons for ages now and have never once had a problem. Highly recommended! -

Actually, they aren't self-tapping. They are a Class A fit, which when put into a Class B or C tapped hole, will deform the threaded hole and make them fit more snuggly. The class of a thread is related to the tolerances and form of the thread.
Agree with the once you've gone to an LP screw, none of the others will work. -

Array Right... A tab in slot B or C equals making it the shape of tab A. I think my way of saying it makes more sense to the majority of people on the forum, even if I have offended the engineering gods... Still, point taken and thanks for the added technical lexicon.
