Whats on your Ipod?

As I walked around a tournament this past weekend I noticed an abundance of fencers with earbuds off in thier own little world....

Whats on your Ipod? Does it help you remain focused? Get you pumped up? Allow you to ignore disctractions??

So share your playlist...share why...also share your age group...

ACDC ,Aerosmith ,Alan Jackson, Barenaked Ladies ,Billy Idol, Bloodhound Gang, Bond, Corrs, Cypress Hill, Duke Ellington,,Europe, Joe Satriani, Johnny Cash, Lita Ford, Los Lobos, Skynard, Marty Robbins, Medieval Babes, Monkees, Nickelback, NIN,Offspring, Parliment Funk, Pink Floyd, Prince, Pussycat Dolls, Queen, REM, Stones, Santana, Seven Nations,Smashmouth, Stephen Lynch, Steve Miller Band, Stevie Nicks, Tom Petty, and otherr various soundtracks

Depends but usually to get me pumped....and 34

Rick

My Playlist: Sherwood, Nickelback, Atreyu, AFI, Billy Joel, Deep Blue Something, Green Day, Fall Out Boy, Tokyo Police Club, Rise Against, Seether, Cold War Kids, Three Days Grace, Death Cab for Cutie, Hellogoodbye, James Blunt, Jimmy Eat World, Matt Costa

And then whatever my friends have on and force me to listen to, its usually not half bad either.

Why?: Well as you can see its a mix of just all out loud and obnoxious to calm. My mood really can change at tournament so my music appeals to any mood I might be in.

My age: 15

Oh and Rick... Nice playlist!

Green day, Death Cab for Cutie, Fort Minor, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Various classical artists, Jack Johnson, Rise Against, The Flaming Lips, Led Zeppelin, Blue October, Annie Lennox, Sinead O'Connor, Elton John, The Beatles, Gorillaz, Hellogoodbye, Coldplay, Jet, The Killers, Joshua James, MUSE, Nirvana, Nelly Furtado, Fergie, Pearl Jam, The White Stripes, Wolfmother, When in Rome, Alphaville, The Verve, Tyler Bates, Beck, Queen, The Postal Service, and various other Indie bands. And soundtrack music. Woo.

This is a really bizarre mix, but it does the job for whatever mood I'm feeling.

I have a playlist just for getting pumped and flipping out.

Iron Maiden, Metallica, AC/DC, Slayer, John Lennon, Thin Lizzy, Nine Inch Nails, Rob Zombie, Joan Jett and the Heartbreakers, Led Zeppelin, Gorillaz, Megadeth, Anthrax, ZZ Top.

Oh, and some Motorhead.

For fencing:

Justin Timberlake, Queen, Alicia Keys, Madeiline Peyroux, The Fray

Otherwise... my tastes run seriously eclectic.

I've got a nano which doesn't hold as much as I would like, so I keep changing what's on my ipod, but currently (counting only bands with a reasonable number of tracks):
Andrew Bird, The Appleseed Cast, Arcade Fire, Bear vs Shark, Blindside, Bloc Party, The Blood Brothers, Bob Evans, Chevelle, Chiodos, Circa Survive, Coheed and Cambria, Copeland, CSS, Daft Punk, Damien Rice, Dashboard Confessional, David Kitt, Death Cab For Cutie, Death From Above 1979, Dredg, Explosions in the Sky, The Fall of Troy, Fall Out Boy, Franz Ferdinand, Further Seems Forever, High and Driving, Iron & Wine, Jimmy Eat World, Joanna Newsom, Jose Gonzalez, The Killers, Klaxons, The Knife, Mew, mewithoutYou, Modest Mouse, Muse, My Bloody Valentine, Of Montreal, The Postal Service, Radiohead, Ride, Saosin, The Sea and Cake, The Shins, Sigur Ros, The Strokes, Sufjan Stevens, Taking Back Sunday, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Zolof the Rock and Roll Destroyer

However after typing that all out, I will say that I don't even bring music to fencing competitions. For me the reasons are: 1) it's antisocial 2) tends to calm me down and turn my brain off.

Nice one SSMSabreMN for Cold War Kids. Been starting to get into a bit of them lately, very reminiscent of White Stripes. Negative points for mrbiggs' Basshunter. I mean seriously man.

The top six most often played on my workout/fencing playlist now (changes from day to day, depending on shuffle):

X-Men theme song, from the animated TV cartoon ... Neil Norman and His Cosmic Orchestra ... Greatest Science Fiction Hits

Find Your Grail ... Monty Python's Spamalot ... Original Cast Recording (soundtrack)

Change In My Life ... John Pagano ... Leap of Faith (soundtrack)

A Little Less Conversation (JXL Remix) ... Elvis Presley ... (top hits album)

Bring Me To Life ... Evanescence ... Fallen

Duel ... Bond ... Born

Yeah they've grown on me. I didn't like their sound at first but the first song I got was a free download on iTunes. I stuck it in a playlist with some other things and after a while I found myself downloading more!

As for you, tehcow- The Shins, the Strokes, Postal Service... lovee them all! great choices

Last week they (iTunes) had a free Joshua James download. That guy rocks. It takes a little while for him to grow on him, but I love him. He's great for people who like Death Cab, James Blunt, Rise Against, Jack Johnson, etc.

Interesting, I'd never really thought of them in the same category as the others
