But I still think it would make an interesting movie. At least about my extended family... I'm not too interesting, but they sure as heck are.

Array *Puts on some mood music before brushing the lint off of the brim of his fedora*
She was a fairly tall blonde, shorter than me by only a couple of inches. Perhaps it was her heels. Even so, it's rare to find a dame I see eye to eye with, literally, but she came closer than most. As common as brown eyes are in these parts, hers stood out. Brown eyes with a skim of honeyed amber, like a glazed donut. The kind of eyes you can get lost in if you aren't careful. With the kind of luck I'd been having lately, I just might. If I were the kind of guy to go for bottle blondes.
She stood at the door to the cafe for a few moments like a lost kitten before walking over to the counter and placing her order. Something iced. Unusual for this time of year, especially considering the weather. Even I'm taking it hot these days. The barista waved her to a table, and she took a seat in front and to the right of me.
Black raincoats seem to be the style this season. She hung it off the back of her chair, revealing bare shoulders and a gray strapless number that clung to her curves like a second skin, hemming at just above her knees. They were very nice knees, topping off toned calves. Dancer's legs. Though what kind of dancing is anybody's guess in this town, and I speculated a bit before quenching the thought. That was the last thing I needed, and considering the way she was dressed, she was most likely waiting for a date.
I set my eyes back to my notebook and scribbled for a few minutes. Some cases are harder to figure out than others. This one seemed simple at first, it had all the markings of identity theft and credit fraud, but I reached a dead end. This was someone who was careful to the point of paranoia, someone who wouldn't leave a loose end for any black hatter to exploit. But there's always a chink in the armor. I'm just having a hell of a time trying to find it.
I set my pen down and rubbed my eyes when the barista delivered a drink to her table. She thanked him then closed her lips around the tip of the straw, drawing the liquid into her mouth in a long sip, letting out a soft sigh at the end of it. Her arm reached behind her and fumbled a bit in the pocket of her coat before drawing out her cell phone. She flipped open the screen and glanced at it before snapping it shut with another sigh. It sounded like the winter wind passing through the alley out back.
I pulled out my own phone and checked the time. Inspite of the darkness outside, it was still early. I was surprised when the device chimed in my hand. I pressed a button to bring up a text message from my friend, Maggie. She had a gig set for next week, and she wanted me to do a number with her. I don't have much of a singing voice, but she can be sentimental about some things. I stared at the screen a good five minutes trying to decide how to decline. Instead, I set my phone on the table and stretched in my seat, taking another glance at the blonde.
She had finished her drink and was resting her head upon her arms, folded on the table top. She lifted it slightly when checking the time again, only to let it fall once more. She added another sigh to the collection.
Slipping my phone and notebook back into my pockets, I grabbed my own coat from my chair and put on my hat. After tossing my cup into the nearby trash can, I was walking by her when she looked up at me. Our eyes met. And I couldn't help but ask a question.
"Stood up?"
She looked slightly annoyed by that, and she raised a hand to her mouth to cover a yawn. That was soon replaced by a faint smile, a trace of white peeking from between her lips.
"I guess it's obvious isn't it?", she asked rhetorically.
My eyes flicked to the door and back to hers. The more I looked the more the temptation grew.
"I used to know someone with eyes like yours." I told her.
"really?" Her face perked up with curiosity.
"Yea. Your guy doesn't know what he's missing."
Her curiosity changed to confusion, but I didn't wait around to see what came of it. I turned on my heel, and stepped out the door into the frigid December air. -

Jack... I want to comment on that, but my eyes were crossing... I need to paste that into something ... else to read. Me, not you.
But I think I want to go back to bed. How odd -
