Array Lyrics Quiz... This is intended to be an occasional feature (ie, when I'm piss-bored).
Here's the deal. I'll list some lyrics from some songs. All I want you guys to do is name the song, and the first artist to have a hit with it in the UK. The first person to reply with all answers correct gets rep, as do any amusing replies. If no-one gets them all (which is very unlikely), rep will be awarded to the highest scoring reply. Most of them should be reasonably easy for you guys, but some may be a little trickier.
Here goes:-
1.) We're caught in a trap.
I can't walk out because I love you too much, baby.
2.) It's been seven hours and 16 days
Since you took your love away.
3.) Early morning, April 4
Shot rings out in the Memphis sky.
4.) Exit light, enter dark.
5.) If the sky that we look upon
Should tumble and fall,
Or the mountains
Should crumble to the sea.
6.) Oh, my love, my darling,
I've hungered for your touch.
7.) I came along, I wrote a song for you
And everything you do.
8.) I feel it in my fingers, I feel it in my toes,
Love is all around me, and so the feeling grows.
9.) I wake up in the morning and I raise my weary head.
Got an old coat for a pillow, and the Earth was last nights bed.
10.) No I can't forget this evening.
Though your face says you are leaving
I guess that's just the way the story goes.
You always smile, but in your eyes your sorrow shows.
You have a week to get them all. There are a couple of songs which have been covered recently, and in some cases, more successfully than the original, so watch out for the tricky ones. Good luck, guys. The Stalwart Panda

Array Ok, here's my try. :) Originally Posted by D'Art 1.) We're caught in a trap.

Sinéad O'Connor 'Nothing compares 2 U'.

5.) If the sky that we look upon

Ben E King 'Stand by me'.
6.) Oh, my love, my darling,

Oooh, 'Unchained Melody'. Can't remember the name of the band though...some old US group.
7.) I came along, I wrote a song for you
And everything you do.
No idea.
8.) I feel it in my fingers, I feel it in my toes,
Love is all around me, and so the feeling grows.
The Troggs (or Wet Wet Wet) 'Love is all around'.

Array 1. Suspicious Minds, originally by Elvis Presley, covered by Fine Young Cannibals.
10. I Can't Live (Without You), by Harry Nilsson Why sabre? Because you don't take heads with the point. -

Array So far we have 12 points to Zz and 4 to Sabreur. That should help the rest of you.
I may award a bonus point to the first non-UK resident to name the last artist* to have a hit with "Suspicious Minds" * I use the term "artist" in the very loosest sense of the word. The Stalwart Panda

Array Ok 9 hasn't been done yet so I'll supply that - Blaze of Glory by Jon Bon Jovi (from the Young Guns soundtrack)
And I can do the bonus point challenge bit I won't becasue I am a UK resident and it would be cheating. Louweasel
"I grew up in Europe, where the history comes from" [Eddie Izzard]
"she might not look like much, kid, but she's got it where it counts" -

I do know Fine Young Cannibals made a really good cover version of 'Suspicious Minds', but that was like...15 years ago or so... -

Array So far, with one day to go, we have a pathetically small entry. However, all the answers recieved have been corect, except Zz's bonus point guess. There has been at least one other artist who has covered it since the Fine Young Cannibals. The Stalwart Panda

Array I never said Googling isn't allowed.
Quite frankly, given that most of the forumites aren't based in Britain, I'd be surprised if it wasn't used. The Stalwart Panda

Array OK, the situation at the close of play is exactly the same as it was a few days ago ie, Zz wins with a score of 12 out of 20 (21 if we include the bonus, which no-one guessed). Well done our Smurfy friend. Rep on it's way as soon as I've finished doing this post.
And the answers are :-
1. Suspicious Minds by Elvis Presley (1969)
2. Nothing Compares 2 U by Sinead O'Connor (1990)
3. Pride (In The Name Of Love) by U2 (1984)
4. Enter Sandman by Metallica (1991)
5. Stand By Me by Ben E. King (1961)
6. Unchained Melody by Jimmy Young (1955)
7. Yellow by Coldplay (2000)
8. Love Is All Around by The Troggs (1967)
9. Blaze Of Glory by Jon Bon Jovi (1990)
10. Without You by Harry Nilsson (1972)
The answer to the bonus question is Gareth Gates, and I still haven't forgiven the falsely-stuttering gimp-boy for it. The Stalwart Panda
