Courtney Hurley took 5th place in Senior WC

Looks like nobody mentioned it before

5th place out of 138 seems like a new thing for USA Women Epee

This was strong Senior World Cup....
Success in cadets does not necessarily translates directly into seniors

I believe it was her first top-8 finish in Senior World Cups
    and it worth noticing

Well, I certainly don't expect it to be her last.

Good fencing! Our epee girls deserve some love. If they keep on this path they will soon be as famous as the sabre girls.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves... This is a good result, but it's not even on the same planet as the success Women's sabre has had. here's the current world cup rankings for this season:
    Rank Points Name country
    1 290 ZAGUNIS Mariel USA
    2 286 WARD Rebecca USA
    3 280 JACOBSON Sada USA
    4 208 PERRUS Leonore FRA
    5 204 FEDORKINA Ekaterina RUS
    6 184 TAN Xue CHN
    7 142 JOZWIAK Bogna POL
    8 132 BIANCO Ilaria ITA
    9 130 VELIKAIA Sophia RUS
10 126 KIM Hye Lim KOR

I certainly hope that US Women's Epee will make strides in the coming years, but they've got a LONG way to go.

Also, while I'm optimistic about what this indicates for Courtney, I do not, unfortunately, believe it indicates any sort of trend for US WE in general, given their inability to find or retain a national coach.

I was being optimistic, man. Also, not to rain on anyone's parade, but there are a lot more competitors in women's epee than women's sabre, so you have to scale the expectations and accolades accordingly. I would say that making top-10 in a women's foil GP would deserve as much fanfare as winning a women's sabre WC. Epee is somewhere in the middle.

No swedes participating, hence no cards.
    Fencing is my only PvP.
