Does anyone have results from yesterdays New England Championships at MIT yet? I couldn't make it this year.

before results come out, I would like to make it perfectly clear to everyone that i wasn't there. .... Even if you see my name on the results, please assume it to be a computer fluke.

Edit: Oh, and results will probably end up http://www.geocities.com/neifc/ there at some point.

    Thanks for the results.

One thing that looks strange to me is that Smith has a B and C sabre fencer listed, but no A fencer. I haven't seen this before. My guess would have been that it's either a mistake in the results or the A fencer was injured. However, Smith used a sub in the Sabre C position, so if the A was injured, I would think the sub would have taken the A position.

It's the order that matters in this case.

Smith subbed for the C strip AND THEN A was injured.

That was, in fact, the case. Our A looked solid throughout the day, and in order to try to get as much fencing for everyone, we subbed into the C. Then our A pulled a muscle, and as she's had a lot of knee trouble, we weren't going to even think about keeping her in. Next time, we won't sub so quickly, perhaps....

    Hmm.

Could you legally sub your C fencer back into the C spot and pub your sub into the A position? You haven't switched any of your fencers positions except for your sub who wasn't assigned a position originally. There wouldn't be a risk of messing up individuals as long as you consider the subs performance in A and C positions as being from different fencers for the purpose of individual qualifications.

If they could have, they would have.

    That is not legal.

Yeah, what happened to her anyways? I asusme it happened in her bout against UMass, I remember seeing her in agony after the bout ended and sitting down right after. It looked like she just tried to retreat and her back leg didn't cooperate.
Good that it's a muscle thing and not her knee, if that's the case.

By NIWFA rules, I believe that is possible. (NIWFA being the conference whose championships Smith is hosting this weekend). By this conference? No. Not possible. Believe me, I triple checked before we pulled out A strip out.
