Array My Uhlmann W/Cup jacket lasted me 2 years until I outgrew it. It's still in use at my club. (We donate old jackets to the club) I reccomend getting higher end FIE if that's the case with your daughter. What FIE jackets do you usually buy? What weapon(s) does she fence?
But, if you don't go through jackets really fast, I DO really reccomend the embroidery. The lettering on my jacket (LAST NAME-USA) looks brand new. I washed it every week too. Some people say I have ADD, well I say... oh look, a chicken!

I wouldn't recommend embroidery on equipment for a competitive fencer. Good Grief!!!!-my son fences the same amount, only more tournaments and his hasn't worn out at all in a year and a half! Please tell me the manufactuer of your daughter's jackets...I don't want to buy that brand. Or have you tried more than one brand? The ones (FIE and practice jackets) he's grown out of are in great shape and we've donated them to the club.
Thank goodness this thread has taken this turn. We're getting ready to get a new jacket and pants this year!
Wait-does she fence foil or saber? If she does, is it the lame that is causing abrasion?

Then apparently you've never encountered any of the old Tripplette non-oxidizible lames that had the surface texture of a wood rasp. They were notorious for destroying jackets, especially the underside of the upper sleeve for foilest. -

Array You're right. I haven't. I stand corrected. But if you don't have one of those lames, will other lames really ruin jackets like that? Some people say I have ADD, well I say... oh look, a chicken!

Array There are other abrassive lames out there - the old Tripplette ones just tended to be amongst the worst. Similar Threads -
