Yes.
Thats what I use for my fencing only shoe. -

Array Sambas The Adidas Samba is what our coach recommends our fencers use.
What daughter has used them for about 2 years and loves them.
I love them because they only cost $45 which is alot less than the regular "fencing" shoes. -
At the Columbus NAC, I was surprised at how many fencers I saw wearing them.
One of my teammates and I each own a pair of Sambas as casual shoes, and there's no way we'd use them for fencing. If you're really on that tight a budget, I suppose you could, but you can get competent dedicated fencing shoes for $50-60 these days. Your feet will thank you. The last time I did something athletic in Sambas, both of my feet ended up bleeding (played basketball, tore up the skin all over my feet) -

Array They're great. I have a pair that I wear all the time; sometimes changing them out fot a pair of pink converse low-tops.
The sambas are nice - the soles are very low profile, and they don't retain dirt. They are very comfortable, too, the arches are very high. I have a street pair, too. Many members of our club also have them. -

Array they actually wear out pretty quickly if your club has metal strips..happened to me ..bought two pairs both were screwed up finally decided to get fencing shoes because my feet were suffering(getting blisters on back foot and front heel ) Facebook me! -
I used Sambas when I first started fencing, but eventually developed a hematoma in my front heel. If you really want to fence in them, a heel cup would be a very wise investment. -
thanks everybody this is really helpful -
I have a pair of Samba Milliniums, which I guess are like a newer version of the Sambas. They seem pretty good, although I've never had any real fencing shoes to compare them with. I also use 3/4 insoles in them (heelcups feel odd to me) because I've found that I really need that extra padding, especially for my front heel.
And yes, they wear down rather quickly on metal strips. In fact, I just put a hole in one of my socks the other night; looks like that "almost a hole" rip in the side decided to become a hole. Maybe I should stop dragging my foot so much... -
Come to think of it, shouldn't this thread be in the armory? Similar Threads -
