Alex Abend came out for this one, eh?
First WC in a while for him, correct?
Good luck all.

Array He's also on the list for Berne, Stockholm, Heidenheim, and Paris. Looks like he's taking a run at seeing how he can do with the world cups this season.

I'll have updates and results on Sunday. Seth, Soren, and Ben Solomon had byes to today.
Of the rest of us who had to fence the first day, I was the only one to make it to the 64.
I lost my first bout today against Michael Kauter (SUI). Ben Solomon lost his bout against Petitjean (FRA). Seth beat Jendry's (POL), and Soren won his first bout today.
Soren lost his next bout to Martin Schmitt (GER), who ended up finishing 3rd in the event. Seth lost to Richer (FRA).
Finals:
1. Michael Kauter (SUI)
2. Ackermann (GER)
3. Martin Schmitt (GER)
3. Medvedev (UKR)
Apologies for the very bland description. You can blame the tournament organizers since they started yesterday's event so late (2PM) and started today's event so early (9AM).

was it strong enough to get 200 points for your top 64 finish?

. I'd guess not. From his report, they had to drop down to 32 & 33 to fill the top 16. None of the top French, Hungarians, or Italians were there. Seems like a fairly weak field. -

. We barely missed it. By my calculations, it had a strength factor of about 1.8 and we needed a 2.0 for Ben and me to get points. It only would have taken a hand full of people.
It's no longer a cut and dry 200 points for the 33-64. It's a scaled system that goes from about 180-240. Check out the atlhetes handbook. Don't let 'em drop it. Don'tlet'emdropit. Stop it... bebop it.
