Array Div. II/III Cadet in Sandy Ut. It's coming up soon. I can't remember exact dates, but that at least is on the USFA website. It's a great opportunity-- for those of us in the Utah/So. Idaho division especially--to see some good fencing and pick up some equipment, as well as participate in a national comp. close to home. I may do Div. III foil, although it depends on what day it's on, whether or not I can time off from a job I haven't got yet, and if I want to spend so much money to have my butt handed to me in all likelyhood--I am thinking positively, but also realistically. At any rate, I'm going to try to volunteer and pick up more toys . Right now my club is doing the majority of the preparation, and we need volunteers to set up, tear down, time, staff booths etc. I don't have a definitive number yet for those who want to volunteer. I do know we will reward volunteers, probably not monetarily although I don't have the details on that either yet. However, I will post more info when I get it. At any rate, it'll be great. Array Well...much as I'd love to go, I'll probably have to hold off until the Div II/III in Reno in March. I'll need another few months to financially recover from the trip to Sacramento!
Now, if that changes and I end up going with someone else for a change, I'm gonna fence in every event I can!
If not October, see ya in March! -
Sandy is actuly pretty cheap, i went for JO's and was there for a week, and there SOO many resturants there, so many to chose from, Sandy was amazingly cheap all things considered, im gunna go there to fence div 2 and cadet(wish they had junior too )
but yeah, the most expensive thing about the whole turrny is the air fair, every thing else is cheap.

Array Anyone know dates and times and where (In Sandy) stuff like that? I totally am coming to watch. "Wars may be fought with weapons, but they are won by men. It is the spirit of men who follow and of the man who leads that gains the victory." - George S. Patton -

Array Awesome fencing in wheelchairs! (I dont meant that in a sarcastic or bad way!) Are any of you going to be there? There are no times (noon one etc.) will those come later? Or is it just all day when ever?

Array Start times will be posted at some point, just check back there in about a month. Incidently, wheelchair fencing probably isn't what you're thinking rihgt now.... The wheelchairs are fixed in place but a frame so that they are sideways to each other, they aren't mobile. The distance is set so that the fencer with the shorter reach can hit his/her opponent with an extension.
It's fun/interesting to watch. Very different skills go into being good at the wheelchair game than most of us are used to.
Enjoy.

Array Three weeks to go and still no times posted, no confirmation of my entry, no nothing. Already the airfares are getting more expensive, and I need to give my employer notice of any days I'll need to take off.

Array Haha Breath hon. Inhale exhale. j/k I am SO going to watch everyone! Especially since I just had my first practice! I hope to see some of you there. (I know this sounds like secret garden stuff but. .) If it's ment to be then we will meet in one way or another. See ya there. (Hopefully we'll see how things work out.)

Array Now I'm wondering whether I'll have to drive, considering the grounding of all commercial air traffic. Still no word from the FAA about when normal travel will be allowed to resume, and when it does there's sure to be one heck of a "logjam" as holders of tickets on postponed flights are given priority and so on.
Or will they just cancel the NAC altogether, assuming that not enough fencers will be able to get there? Use the Shift key, people! Keyboard manufacturers everywhere are ineffably saddened when you ignore what they made just for you! -
