Heartland Circuit (USA) Off to a Great Start!!!

Iowa's Sioux City Challenge becomes the Opening Event in the 2002 Heartland Circuit!!!
In its 5th year, sponsored by the Sioux City Fencing Club, and the Four Seasons Health Club, this year's 'Challenge' was very exciting, with many 15-14 bouts in the finals of several C-, and B-level events!

Nearly 70 people registered for over 110 entries for a great 2-day, multi-event weekend in a fabulous health club facility.
(In addition to EXCELLENT lighting, there were clean, bright locker rooms - with hot showers, and FREE Towel service!)

The 'Challenge' was followed closely by the Wisconsin Turkey Meet, at Waukesha's Catholic Memorial High School, in the Crusaders' beautiful new main gymnasium! The turnout was a little smaller, but a little stronger, with the Men's (Mixed) Epee an A1 event, resulting in Chinese Tapei's Yang Fei (late of the University of South Dakota) taking home the Gold, and a
brand new A01 Classification! (USFA system).

A good time was had by all at this well run, one day event, and despite some holdups for several multi-event fencers, ALL EVENTS were completed by 4:30 PM!

As with previous years, the Heartland Circuit is graciously sponsored by American Fencers Supply, and Santelli Fencing Equipment, top finishers at
the end of the series receive gift certificates.

Current Standings are posted at
