About this Camp
The purpose of this camp is to offer a week of quality instruction and training in preparation for the 2001 Summer National Championships in Sacramento, California. The coaching staff at NCF is dedicated to providing a training environment that will give each fencer in attendance at the camp the best experience possible. All fencers attending this camp will receive both individual and group instruction, and will be training at a strong skill level. NCF has an outstanding reputation nationally for training top quality youth fencers. The number of fencers from outside of NCF is limited to 15, so as to ensure the best possible environment for all fencers. This training camp is where NCF fencers will be preparing for Summer Nationals, so a high level training experience is guaranteed. There will also be seminars on sports psychology, nutrition and sports injury prevention.
At the 2000 Summer National Championships NCF fencers brought home:*
8 Gold Medals
1 Silver Medal
3 Bronze Medals
9 5th - 8th Place Medals
During the 1999-2000 season NCF fencer's earned 64 National Competition Finalist medals.

There will be other coaches at this camp.

Attending this camp will be top ranked fencers from NCF.**

Camp cost $450. Includes full board with an NCF family
Host families will pick up and drop off fencers at Denver International Airport
Training 9:00 - 4:00 pm daily
Seminars on sports psychology, nutrition and injury prevention
Additional bouting during evening practice
Fencers will be housed with NCF families
Bring a bathing suit
Bring enough equipment to last the camp
There will be an armory available for repairs as well as a pro shop.

Gary Copeland *
has been coaching since 1974 and founded NCF in 1979. Gary is the Assistant Director for the United States Fencing Association's Coaches' College, an organization that trains fencing coaches nationally. He has been involved with Coaches College since it's inception in 1985 and has been on staff since 1990. Gary was a coach at the 1991 U.S. Olympic Festival in Los Angeles and was selected to coach on the following Junior/Cadet World Championships

Andrea Lagan *
is a New Zealand native and has been both a Junior and Open National Epee Champion. She is a member of the USFA's Youth Committee and a member of the USFA's Coaches' Committee and is serving as a Director of the USFA Board of Directors where she was elected from Congress. Andrea has been involved in fencing for 17 years and is a graduate of the United States Fencing Association's Coaches' College where she is now a member of staff. Andrea was selected as the 1997 Olympic Committee Developmental Coach of the Year for fencing. Andrea is the Head Coach of the USFA Youth Tour - Great Britain and the USFA National Coach for Cadet Men's Epee. Contact Andrea, AndreaLagan@NCFencers.org.
