About this Camp
Gary Copeland has been coaching since 1974 and founded NCF in 1979. Gary coordinates the epee program for the United StatesFencing ***ociation's Coaches' College, an organization that trains fencing coaches nationally. He has been on staff since 1990. Gary was a coach at the 1991 U.S. Olympic Festival in Los Angeles and was selected to coach at the 1992 Junior World
Championships in Genoa, Italy; the 1993 Junior/Cadet World Championships in Denver, and went on to serve as a coach at the 1994, 1995, 1997 and 1999 Junior/Cadet World Championships. Gary's students have been on 28 U.S. teams. Gary is the current chair of the Colorado Division.
Andrea Lagan was New Zealand Under-20 and National Epee Champion in 1988. She is the current Chair of the USFA's Youth Committee and a member of the USFA's Board of Directors. Andrea has been involved in fencing for 15 years and is a graduate of the United States Fencing ***ociation Coaches'College. Andrea was selected as the 1997 Olympic Committee Developmental Coach
of the Year. She is the current chair of the USFA Youth Committee, is serving as a member of the 1997 USFA Board of Directors and is a junior member of staff for the USFA Coaches College.
The purpose of this camp is to offer a week of quality instruction and training in
preparation for the 1999 Summer Championships. The coaching staff at NCF is
dedicated to providing a training environment that will give each fencer in attendance at
the camp the best experience possible. Fencers attending this camp will receive both
individual and group instruction, and will be training at a strong skill level.
There will be other coaches at this camp.
Attending this camp will be top ranked fencers from NCF. 1999 Junior/Cadet World
Team members Kate Rudkin and Michael Banks and 1997 team member Scott Clake
will also be available for bouting.

Camp cost $375. Includes full board with an NCF family
Drop off 8:45 - 9:00 am.
Training 9:00 - 4:00 pm.
If you are arriving by plane, please plan to arrive at Denver International between
3:00 - 7:00 pm on Sunday June 20th and depart the morning of Sunday 27th June.
Fencers will be housed with NCF families.
Bring a bathing suit.
Bring enough equipment to last the camp.
There will be an armory available for re pairs.
Wednesday will be a half training day; the afternoon session will be spent swimming. |
