Spanish fencer visiting San Francisco Hi!
I'm a spanish woman planning to visit San Francisco next February 2007. I'm going to be there just for a couple of weeks, but I'd like to visit a fencing club and do some bouting if possible.
Any suggestions? Does anyone know if there's a club at Berkeley University?
Thanks... -

Array Holla,
There is a club at Berkeley and another nearby in Oakland.
The coach at both clubs (Abdul) gives a great workout.
Here is a place you can do some research into San Francisco area clubs: http://www.thebaycup.com/interface.cgi
I say come visit Golden Gate but maybe I'm biased.

Thanks, wahrman. I was looking for an e-mail to contact Golden Gate Fencing Club but I couldn't (the webpage www.gofencing.com is not working). Thanks for the link! Now I'm finding everything.
Maybe we'll meet at your club, who knows.

Array Oh sorry, I forgot that the website is still down.
Which weapon(s) do you fence? Golden Gate seems to focus on epee
but there are some very good foilists there. Not really much sabre. -
Then that's good news, cause I'm epeeist. Can you tell me if your club opens at morning hours? Do adults fence in these hours? -

Array There isn't much going on in the mornings besides lessons.
Most of the grown ups are there for Epee practise on Monday and
Wednesday nights and Saturday mornings.
Monday, Wednesday 18.00 to 21.00 (give or take)
Saturday 10.30 to 13.00
The schedule varries a bit depending upon who is out of town but
that's the average. -
¡Buen viaje! -

Array Holla Clagen,
London eh? Funny that. I'll be in London in a few weeks and was wondering
which clubs to look up. So far on my list are Haverstock and London Thames.
Any other ideas for epee?
cheers -
Cheers - I'm at Haverstock, and our largest night is Tuesday 7-9.15, as that is our pools competition evening, with typically smaller numbers Wednesday and Thursday. LTFC's large night is Monday. Both are very friendly clubs and welcoming of visitors. Haverstock is easily accessible via the tube, just across the street from Chalk Farm on the Northern Line. LTFC is a ten-to-fifteen minute walk from the nearest tube station at St. Paul's School. It mostly depends upon your schedule, really. I hope this helps! -
Also - Haverstock and LTFC are indeed your best options for epee, so no need to look further. -
Hola, Clagen.
Thanks for your recommending Golden Gate Club. I haven't bought my plane tickets yet, but if I finaly go there I'll pay a visit to that club.
cheers

Assuming that all goes as planned....
And hopefully, LTFC the night before.
