meeting fencing.net people in RL for the first time
Hi all,
I just met Shadow Fencer in RL yesterday. We'd met before at tournaments, but didn't know each other's fencing.net nicks and didn't have the person connected with the nick before then. I'd mentioned my real name in the thread "To be secret or not to be" here a couple of days ago and Shadow recognized my name from a tournament we'd both been in Friday night. When I attended a divisional meeting yesterday she came up and introduced herself.
Just wanted to pass along to story and say that I thought it was sort of cool to actually meet someone I only knew from here (there're a couple other fencing.net people I know, but I knew them in RL first).

i knew oiuyt in real life first and had enjoyed reading his posts... but i didnt have the two connected until i was talking to him at a tournament one day and he was like 'are you foilist on fencing.net?' and i was kinda shocked... never thought he'd hang around here... was pretty cool though
Ditto, I would love to meet some of you too.
God, you make me laugh sometimes. At other times you know just how to answer my questions. You're great! (Now don't go getting a swelled head over it.)
Just in case you ever see a mask with MOM and hearts stitched on it, introduce yourself (to me, not the mask of course).

Hi Brad aka "oiuyt"!
I must admit, meeting you was pretty cool as well! Now I know how to pronounce your alias. So, now I will come out of the shadows and tell everyone that I'm Pam Guntrum. And yes, the 3 legged dog across the street, Shadow, is the name I adopted for my fencing.net alias. If anyone else on this board is fencing next weekend in the Senior Sectionals in Rhode Island, say howdy... but wait after the DE! I somehow gotta stop choking in the DE! My past three DEs in the last two weeks I choked big time!!!!! Also, if anyone is fencing the Veterens tournament next month in Fairfield, CT, I'll be there too! Can there ever be enough tournaments?

A fencing.net tournament would be pretty cool, except that I have a sneaking suspicion that most of you guys would smear me. And anyway, I'm too far away from anywhere to make it to any decent tournaments (We have a fencing population of about 5).
