Array New Jersey Road Trip (Go Devils?) Well, tonight after teaching my beginner and advanved classes, I and my friend Sean will jump in the car and road trip to NJ for the Weekend of the Sabre, promoted earlier by Chris Umbs in the Fencing discussion as "CF Sabre Rules." It is generally an 8 hour trip to drive from the Motor City (a.k.a. Detroit) to New Jersey, but we're breaking it down into 2 seperate trips, so we're not total vegetables for the Italian Dueling Sabre seminar at 5:30 on Saturday. I hope to be able to post some good things here on Monday, when we get back to Detroit.
On a seperate note, I am rooting for the Devils in the Stanley Cup playoffs, and Sean is rooting for the Avs (he's a big Roy fan). I figure if the Devils win, I can grab a championship t-shirt after the tournament. Also, the last time I fenced a sabre tournament after a Stanley Cup Final (when the Red Wings won it in '97), I came in second. I'm hoping to have similar success in Sunday's tournament.
Wish me luck! -
Kick some arse, guys! I'll be thinking of you as pass through Indiana. -

Array Actually, Dame, we're closer to Indiana right now than we will be when travelling! But thank you for the well wishes! -

Array You east coast types who think an 8 hour drive is long, crack me up!
Try having your sectionals in Seattle now and then, (a 16 hour drive even with me at the wheel) or better yet, in Anchorage!
My longest fencing road trip so far was about 1500 miles each way!

Actually, we're midwest types...I'm a former eastcoast type.
