Check it, two hand tapping has exisited for about 60 years now- check out players like Tal Farlow (who taps notes in chords to chnge the color of the chord!!)who was tapping in the 40's!
You would be ahead of you time in 1960 if you introduced Layla and especially Purple Haze!
Me, I'd go for the 30's-40's to try to catch folks like charlie parker and django reinhardt live!! Yes, I'd take my fencing gear- and Yes, I'd try to introduce circle six flick to the back!!!
