Fencing in Paris in Summer

I'm studying in Paris for a couple months this summer and was consequently wondering if anyone knew much about fencing over there and the possibilities open for an unremarkable American fencer to practice at any clubs there. If it helps, I've taken a couple years of college French. I'll also be spending a week in Strasbourg and possibly a week in Zürich (also have a couple years of college German under my belt) if anyone knows whether or not it would be feasible to fence a couple days over there.

As far as fencing particulars go, I've fenced foil for 4 years, competitively, without much success.

I suggest you drop a PM to veeco. If I recall correctly he used to fence in Paris and now fences i Zürich. Additionally, Pauli could probably tell you all about fencing in Zürich.

I'm sure they'd both be happy to help out.
Best of luck and have fun (you lucky, lucky bastard)!

I am in the SF Bay Area now, actually :-).

As far as fencing goes, Paris/ France is probably the worst place to be in the summer: all fencing clubs are closed during the summer holidays. The only one that I know of that is open is le Cercle Militaire. PM if you want more details, I can put you in touch with some locals who might have more information, since I haven't fenced there in almost 2 years now.

Zurich has a few clubs, but most of them are recreational clubs, and focus on epee, AFAIK. I think most of them are closed in the summer.

Hmm, your message box is full so I'm posting in the thread...

I was afraid it might be the case that stuff would be shut down over summer. I'll take any info about clubs that may be open that you have, though. For the first month I'll be staying near Place d'Italie, and for the second around St. Germain Des Prés, if location means much. In the end it might be good if I took a couple months off, though.
