Hahaa... My teacher has drill days sometimes when he feels particularly sadistic... He tells us to do things around the gym, and he'll say to go around once and then stop, but he'll tell us to do something like "advance jump lunge retreat retreat retreat", so we don't really make any progress, if anything we go slightly backwards each time...
Luckily when we look like we were about to fall over a few minutes ago, he lets us stop... Whew!

I think the point of those drill days were to make us properly appreciate good old normal warmup drills...
Ah, how fun...

As far as students having bad attitudes... There's this one high school student in my class... I was having a friendly bout with him, after I hit him, we both stopped because he knew I hit him, and I started to backup towards my line, and he just jabbed me really hard with his foil... You know... he was a really poor sport, and other people have noticed this about him too... but after the bout was over when we shook hands he said I was really fun to fence against... which sorta goes against the whole bad sportsmanship thing... I think some people are just... well, just weird. And they may be a bit disagreeable, but I absolutely think that some people have no idea that they're behaving badly... So as someone else already said, telling them that they're doing something wrong is definitely an important step even if it seems obvious.

Well, anyway, yeah. That's my story.

Uh-huh, and then my signature disappeared... Hmm... This should fix it... Yeah. YEAH! Yaaay!

When coaching cadets in rifle marksmanship I demanded 100% attentivness from them. Any answering back earnt them instant dismissal from the range.

Safety comes first, and if they didnt want to listen to my advice and orders then I didnt want them there at all. Same applies to fencing.
