I predict a severe stomping for myself, a drive back questioning why the hell I spent $40.50 to fence when I am a poor college kid (and a U), and eventual satisfaction when I realize I love this sport even when I get my ass kicked. Hopefully, I'll learn something by watching the good ones.

So why isn't Mr. Sexton on there yet?

Good question. It's a much smaller field than I expected so far.

I predict that "Madera De Barrera, Esperanza" will have the longest name of the tournament.

Other than that, Tommi Hurme to win Men's epee.

I dont know, seems pretty good to me... 36 in Epee and 42 in Foil. I also think James Lo will be fencing. He gets in free this year, so no incentive to pre-reg I suppose. =)

This is why I finally decided not to go---less than 2 weeks before and only 2 or 3 people had registered for the sabre...

Well, that and the fact that it's another 50 miles from the nearest major airport.

Tommi Hurme over Robert Reed in the finals.

Check out the Rose Condon instead then - I think you'll find the field there more to your liking.

That's it, I'm done with the discussion forums on F.net. It's had its uses, but the ideologues, ranters, and "experts" have drowned too many of the conversations. I'm changing my password to something random and never logging in again.

Last year had 69 Epee fencers and 64 foil, and 2005 had 77 epee and 65 foil.

Perhaps more people will show up on the day of as the weather clears.

Yes, that's much more like it. I wish I'd known about it before---we're inside the 21-day advance airfare window at this point and I'd be looking at almost a $500 ticket...

    Finicky, ain't I?

I have got to learn to use the search function on AskFred.

The Rose Condon has been praised for years on this forum and in general at tournaments. I'd think you'd have heard of it before now.

Sure, but if I haven't been to it or it isn't on my informal schedule for a year I don't think of it. This year I just happened to have had an opening in January, since I decided to pass on the NAC for the month...
