| Loss of Leon Paul tip crown In Columbus this weekend the crown of my Leon Paul GT tip came off while I was bouting. This was a first for me with LP, or any kind of tip for that matter. In fact, I've never heard of it happening, either.
Thanks. |

Thanks. | You're welcome.
No, Drew, I don't know what would make that happen. I've seen it happen with foil tips, though, albeit not for years. |

| Just the crown itself...not the crown and shaft???
Sometimes on Uhlmann and Prieur points, the peening on the base of the shaft doesn't do teh job and teh tip shoots out, leaving the flange pressed up against the collar, which is still held in place by the screws, and so you still have a closed circuit. |

| Yeah, that almost happened to one of mine. I noticed it was slipping around, so I just superglued it. That was about six months ago. No problems since. |

Thanks. | I've had it happen to two of my PTFE epee tips. I reported it to the guys working the LP booth at last year's nationals; I believe Ben Paul was the guy I talked to. I haven't seen anything on the LP web site to suggest that they're working on a fix.

| I know that there was a batch of the GT foil points that had a bit of an issue with separation and the Pauls found the source of the issue and have since fixed it.
Sounds like this foil point may have been left around from before the fix.

I use a center punch with the tip upside down on an anvil. This spreads the end of the shaft, giving you good mechanical and, hopefully, electrical connection.

On Jan 22, 2001 it cost 94 cents to buy a Euro, now it costs about $1.50. Thanks again, George.

That why it does not come apart like some others were there is a stress concentration at the bottom of the verey small thread. |
