Scimitar or Adidas Equipment shoes?

I have some old Adidas D'Artagnen II shoes that are on the verge of ripping apart.

So I decided to take some time to examine and hopefully buy a new pair of shoes.

I narrowed my searches down to two shoes: Leon Paul's Scimitars and Adidas' Equipment shoes.

Scimitar: http://shop.fencing.net/Leon_Paul_Hi...p/lp-d8000.htm

Adidas:

(FS010)

I have friends and teammates who own one or the other brand and I've asked... no real convincing info on which one I should purchase...

More down to widness of your feet than anything else. The adidas are very narrow, so much so you usually need to go half a size up, the Hi tec are normal to wide.

All the more reason that my wide feet and I want some Leon Paul hi-tops in the future

Odds are extremely unlikely that BG still has Adidas Equipments in normal sizes still in stock. Adidas, for some unknown and horrible reason, decided to stop making those wonderful shoes, and most of the remaining stock of Equipments or Asymetrics has been snatched up.

I love the Adidas Equipments, and am currently wearing my stockpile, so if BG has them available, I recommend them highly. I've never worn the LP Scimitars, so can't offer an opinion on those. Many fencers who used to wear the Adidas Equipments have switched to either Adidas Stabil 6s, the LP shoes, or some kind of tennis/basketball shoe.

Part of what always looked appealing about the Equipment was the broad sole and the additional padding. Either of those are appealing to you, I would suggest the LP Scimitar. I've had my own problems with them, but they are AWESOME for that. My back shoe is currently being sent back to LP for a material failure, and I REALLY miss it. Nice that Columbus is coming up this weekend and I'm without a shoe! Alas.

Check your budget too. The equipments shoes are a good $70 - 80 more.

My opinion isn't worth much since I've never fenced in either, but the scimitars look really super awesome, and loads of people around here fence in them.
