Wow. Not a bad local event. Granted invite-only.

We had a great, and tremendously strong event. We did pools the whole way, including 15-touch bouts in the final pool round (a ton of double and triple stripping was necessary to accomplish this).

    Hi!

Eric Gurnovsky placed 11th, and would have earned an E, if he would not already had had an A. He outplaced 8 A´s. This goes to show how little one gets, rating-wise, for competing in a strong but small competition.

Sure.... if the point was simply to earn a higher classification... Since the majority of the fencers there were high-caliber and on the point list, nobody cared about classifications. They were simply there to get in on some really great fencing! I doubt Eric was upset that he didn't get some useless classification out of it... since he got some great training instead, which is considerably more valuable.

Well, my point was decidedly not about his (or anybody else´s) experience of the competition, which I take was top-notch. It was expressly about a quirk in the ratings system. This competition happened to illustrate that quirk quite well.

Heck, people have threadjacked my threads!
