| *Jumps in* Hi All!
I just wanted to pop in here before running over to the main forums. I've been lurking for about a week to get the vibe and am now ready to make my big introduction.
My name is Sheila. I'm in NYC. I'm a little bit sardonic and enjoy a good witty bout in addition to the other bouts readily spoken about in these parts.
I am new to fencing, sort of. I had a roommate in college (a few years ago) who was on a fencing scholarship, so I would "practice" with her, but had really no clue what I was doing. For the past couple of years, I've been doing the checklist of things I want to do in life. I've actively become involved in everything from sailing, to fencing, to pole dancing (yes...pole dancing -- the S Factor), to SCUBA, to spending 5 months "touring" with my favorite band (LOL)...just to name a few. I've been taking on 1-2 each year and am keeping them in my life and enjoying the crap out of it.
So, here I am. I'll probably throw out the occasional question that has been asked a thousand times, however I am very good with the Search function. I'm confident that I'll learn a TON around here.

The smaller "heroin-addict" bruises are from fencing...LOL If I wasn't nearly 6 feet tall (and with my life relatively together -- the pole isn't a profession, and the heroin was just a joke), I think most people would worry. I think they feel like I can at least put up a good fight...
LOL
Thanks for the kind welcome!!!

Anywho, welcome, Sheila, and don't listen to a word fences_like_a_lemur says ! | LOL...I'm not quite sure what I am, yet. When I say 'newbie,' I mean new, newbie. My friend fenced foil at university, so I'm a little (15 years out) familiar with it, but I'm kind of working on some footwork basics and such before I determine which weapon will be my weapon of choice. At this point, they're just sharp, lengthy appendages at the end of my natural appendage. I'm kind of like a clueless Edward Scissorhands at this point.

I'm having an odd craving a cheeseburger and a sudden urge to cluck like a chicken, crazy that. I'm so confused.

Sheila | Well normally I would just tell you not to listen to ParryRiposte; but then she does have good advise, for once, though her method of conveying was rather ...evil...
Well anyway, I hope you enjoy fencing and if you decided to pick sabre, then well that's even better!
